I really know it looks vulnerable from the top. Remember the high-tech power shield. 
I know it's vulnerable from the bottom. Not to the AT mines, to the suicide-man-with-grenade-launcher. Yes it is. If the infantryman can survive with high-temperature exhaust stream from the support engines.
I know it's armament looks poor. But this is standard package. Install any additonal weaponary you want.

also, shield is not a absolute defence, it heats up, it's vulnerable to EMP-shield-breaker-charges, it doesn't stop subsonic projectiles, and a lot of things it can't.
shield is just an addition to armor
