:pointr: Solar Industries SP-20 Dragoon

weight: 1.1 kg
barrel length: n/a
overall length: 278 mm
cartridge: 10.3mm particle projectors charge
caliber: n/a
action: electric-driven, semi-automatic
rate of fire: semi-automatic
effective range: depends of charge type.
feed system: 4-round cassette
cost: 3'600 Geo
manufacturer: Solar Industries

Particle blaster SP-20 is positioned as secondary weapon for officers, crew members and as self-defence weapon for armor suit pilots. It's high-penetrating power allows to pierce even heavy armor suits. But, due to technological diffilcuties, Dragoon's ammo is limited by four charges. Each of four barrels' of the SP-20 has its own feed system, particle projectors and energy supply. Solar Industries gurantee at least 20 shots by each projector until it nees repairs and service. SP-20 has brilliant future as a firearm for boarding teams, close combat antimateriel weapon, and, may be, perfect weapon for hitmans.

:bulletgreen: 3Ds Max 2008, finalRender stage-1, Adobe Photoshop CS2
:bulletblue: 7 hours

Note: It is plasma accelerator firearm. Cylinder shells are not bullets, but just a container with working mass and a huge capacitor. So it CAN fire using round shells and rectangular barrels.

how the fack can you fire ROUND bullets from thin rectangular wholes????

not to mention, you can't fire that weapon, it'd brake you wrist!

At first glimpse, it looked a bit like a meat cleaver.

We need an advanced version of this. NAOW.

The recoil would probably break your arm, but it's a unique design to say the least
Ergrassa Featured By Owner May 20, 2014  Hobbyist Digital Artist
It's low-recoil plasma thrower =)

Okay; gonna gun-nerd critic, I mean no offense because this looks pretty epic; but I am an OCD-gun-nerd.

The handle (or whatever you want to call it) is an odd angle that the user would need to hold it with their arm at their side to fire, the four barrels (which are rectangular?) seem ineffective in ranged shots, the gun looks smaller than it's ammo, the buttons seem unnecessary, and I really don't see why it's design was as such, I am not trying to be an asshole, I just do not understand how it works, if I were to be enlightened, my opinion would change.

I apologize if I made offense.

I agree with the above comments. I would also point out that there seem to be absolutely no sights, not even a little round aperature that you could call a laser sight or the lens of a camera for some kind of HUD/smartgun sight. Therefore, this weapon can't be aimed properly, and will be inaccurate at anything more than very short ranges. Typical internet weapon design, i.e., flawed and impractical.

Can it be used as a club  as well?....I feel like you can just hit something with it.

Cool, but not a very comforatable grip.

Looks like a cool design for a stun gun, and those cartriges look cool too!

What do you mean by particle weapon? It shoots a neuttral particle beam(accelarated light atoms),/ a proton/deuterium nuclei beam an electron beam or plasma?
And what are these chages, are they a kind of one use capacitor banks?

this gun ia absolutely amazing

Looks like something Johnny Alpha, the bounty hunter from the comic book 2000AD would use! I know its not the same design, but its similar in nature to his favorite gun. I love this piece of work - it shows an elegance of style that is seldom seen in portable artillary.

*Whimpers* Wish it were real... might be able to get a message into my managers thick skull if I used one of those!

cool design, but it'd be impossible (for a human) to aim.

It looks like handheld vacuum cleaner, although no-one wants to look like they just recycled one of their old arts.

So, does this thing fire 4 energy shots at once in a spray-like burst?
Ergrassa Featured By Owner Apr 19, 2010  Hobbyist Digital Artist
it can shot four shells at one shot, but also, it can shot them one-by-one

The almost horizontal grip looks like those on old wheel-lock pistols, and the multi-barrel muzzle reminds me of the pepperbox. These antique weapons were also used for self-defence at short ranges. It's interesting to see a fusion of the antique and futuristic here. Is this what you had in mind?

Yeah, you're right =)

Very very nice, I love it! Although I would work on the grip, even the ST phaser pistol had a little bit of curve, and that had the trigger on top as a button anyway. Unless the long red line /is/ the trigger. Then I'd wonder what the trigger shaped object is lol :)
Ergrassa Featured By Owner Mar 31, 2010  Hobbyist Digital Artist
red button is safety
Lord-Malachi Featured By Owner Mar 31, 2010  Hobbyist General Artist
OH that makes sense lol. Again great work :)
Silverlion Featured By Owner Mar 25, 2010
Particle beam. It's an energy weapon. Neat. It is a bit awkward in shape. (Like Star Trek Next Gen Phasers)
Ergrassa Featured By Owner Mar 31, 2010  Hobbyist Digital Artist
not beam, but bunch of subatomic particles and ionized workmass.
MaraxxusEredexa Featured By Owner Mar 25, 2010  Hobbyist Digital Artist
You know, that weapon is full of über epic win. Great job there!
RaideR24 Featured By Owner Mar 24, 2010  Professional Digital Artist
I think you could push this concept more. There is no way that this "shot gun" could fire those rounds. And putting a description on anything at this point is useless. Study your project farther and try to make a design that would really work, the thin slots at the "barrel" do not work for the Round shells. You know?

Just giving you positive critique on this...
Ergrassa Featured By Owner Mar 31, 2010  Hobbyist Digital Artist
no need to «really work», it's a illustration to sci-fi RPG [link] XXVI century technology, as the backstory.

Anyway, it isn't a «shot gun». Simply, it's a high energy «linear» accelerator. There's no difference between round, elliptical or rectangular muzzle.
Shells are round due to historical reasons and they're unified to particle (indeed, «particle» blasters and to mass drivers)
Lord-Malachi Featured By Owner Mar 25, 2010  Hobbyist General Artist
If it wasn't an energy weapon I think I'd agree with you. But seeing as it is, the only issue I see with the design is the odd grip >.> A flow or pulse of energy can exit any shape hole.
RaideR24 Featured By Owner Mar 26, 2010  Professional Digital Artist
The point I'm trying to make is that this is fake and would not work in reality. :anger:
Lord-Malachi Featured By Owner Mar 26, 2010  Hobbyist General Artist
o.0 In reality if that technology existed it would in fact work. Reality is a giant "If" statement. Using current technology you're right, it wouldn't work. But it isn't based on current technology so your statement is moot.
RaideR24 Featured By Owner Mar 26, 2010  Professional Digital Artist
Stop trying to be right. All I was saying to start with was to improve a good idea so RIP already.
Artist-Azar Featured By Owner Apr 2, 2013
Piss off.
Irrevent Featured By Owner Mar 24, 2010
I'm trying to work out how exactly you would fire that thing, as the grip is designed awkwardly for the trigger position...

it's a nice render and design (kind of reminds me of a hand held vacuum lol), looks pretty :P
